NFF, Nigerians remember late?football legend, Rashidi Yekini who died 6-years ago
On this day in 2012, Nigerian football legend Rashidi Yekini passed on after living the later part of his life in penury.

In his lifetime, Yekini's professional career spanned more than two decades. He was mainly associated with Vitória de Setúbal in Portugal, but he also played in six other countries

Yekini scored 37 goals as a Nigerian international, and represented the country in five major tournaments, including two World Cups where he scored the country's first-ever goal in the competition.

He was also named the African Footballer of the Year in 1993.

Barcelona clinch LaLiga title for the 25th time
Barcelona have won LaLiga for the 25th time in their history after beatingDeportivo La Coruna 4-2 today. The Catalans have completely dominated Spain's top flight this season and completed the job with four games to go thanks to a goal from Philippe Coutinhoand a Lionel Messi hat-trick at the Riazor.  

It marks a LaLiga and Copa del Rey double in Ernesto Valverde's first season in charge and completes a remarkable turnaround in fortunes over the past eight months.  Last August, Barca had been battered 5-1 over two legs by Clasico rivals Real Madrid who triumphed in Spain and Europe last season in the Supercopa de Espana and had seen one of their MSN triumvirate depart following Neymar's lucrative sale to Paris Saint-Germain.  

Andres Iniesta will also now leave Camp Nou with a ninth LaLiga triumph with the Spain great having announced he will leave the Catalan giants after a trophy-laden 22-year association with the club.

LaLiga and AJEAST Nigeria, the makers of Big Cola, have announced the signing of an agreement under which the multinational beverage company has become LaLiga's latest regional partner in Nigeria.
The strategic partnership was announced at a press conference in Lagos, on Thursday April 26th, 2018. Gregory Bolle, LaLiga's Head of global partnership sales; Mr. Theo Williams, Country Director of AJEAST Nigeria; and Perpetual Ohiri, Marketing Manager Big Cola Nigeria, took center stage at this event. Philip Diwan, CEO of Legacy Sports, Javier Del Rio, LaLiga's Delegate in Nigeria, and LaLiga Ambassador, Mutiu Adepoju were also among those in attendance.
The partnership further reinforces both LaLiga and AJEAST’s continued commitment to consumer satisfaction in Nigeria. Moreover, it will enable the beverage company – who are a major stakeholder in the Nigerian fast moving consumer goods industry – to offer its customers access to exclusive content related to the Spanish football competition.
Following the signing of the agreement, Gregory Bolle, LaLiga's Head of Global Partnership Sales, noted: "LaLiga loves Africa and Nigeria is a strategic country for us, because of its fans and numerous football talents such as Francis Uzoho (Deportivo de la Coruna) and Oghenekaro Etebo (UD Las Palmas). This partnership will allow our millions of Nigerian LaLiga fans to further engage with the best league in the world. Through this innovative collaboration with Big Cola, we will prove once again that we are committed to becoming closer than ever to our fantastic Nigerian fans."
Meanwhile, Mr. Theo Williams Country Director of AJEAST Nigeria, stated: "We are proud to launch this partnership with LaLiga. The partnership reaffirms AJEAST’s status as a major player in the development of football in Nigeria, while further illustrating LaLiga’s successful international expansion in Africa to get closer to its Nigerian fans.

Breaking!!! Europa League Trophy Stolen and Recovered in Mexico 


Europa League trophy stolen and recovered in Mexico

Mexican authorities confirm that the Europa League trophy was stolen after being displayed at a publicity event in Mexico, only to be recovered a few hours later in the state of Guanajuato.

The trophy had been on display at the football stadium in the city of Leon on Friday night, only to be taken from a car after the event.

“We recovered the Cup after receiving information that it had been stolen from the car transporting it,” said a post on the Twitter account of the Guanajuato public prosecutor, alongside a picture of the trophy in a case. 

No other information was given about who took the trophy, where it was found or whether any perpetrators had been identified. The event had been organised by one of European football governing body UEFA’s sponsors.
